01About the services
fof.lol is a collection of free web tools that run in your browser: SmartBench checks the hardware of phones, tablets and computers, SpeedBench measures your internet connection, WhereBench shows your coordinates on a map, KeyBench tests keyboards, mice and gamepads, DropBench sends files directly between devices, MeetBench checks the camera, microphone, headphones and network before a video call, and PrivacyBench shows what any website can see about your browser and connection. They need no installation and no account.
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
02Results are informational
Results depend on the browser, operating system, power-saving settings, the network and the permissions you grant. Browsers expose only part of the hardware and may round or restrict values.
- Benchmark scores are relative and suitable for comparing devices within this site only.
- Internet speed depends on the moment, the Wi-Fi or mobile signal, other traffic on the network and the test server; it may differ from what your provider measures.
- Coordinates are as accurate as your device reports them; an address found for a point on the map is approximate.
- Some keys and buttons (for example Fn, media keys or extra mouse buttons) are handled by the system and never reach the browser.
- A passed test does not guarantee that a component is fully working, and a failed test does not prove a fault. Results are not a professional diagnosis: for purchase, warranty or repair decisions, consult a service center.
03Safe use
Some tests put stress on the device or use a lot of data. You run them at your own discretion:
- Speakers. Start at low volume. Loud tones and high frequencies can damage hearing, especially with headphones, and at maximum volume they can damage the speaker.
- Processor, graphics and battery tests. They heat the device and drain the battery quickly. Stop the test if the device becomes very hot. Do not run the load test on a swollen or damaged battery.
- Flashing and full-screen colors. The display test quickly changes bright colors. People with photosensitive epilepsy should not use it.
- Sensors and camera. Hold the device firmly while tilting or shaking it.
- Internet speed test. A full test can transfer several hundred megabytes. On a metered or mobile connection use the data-saving mode.
- Location. Do not rely on WhereBench for navigation or in an emergency.
- Gamepad vibration. The vibration test drives the motors at full strength for a moment; hold the gamepad firmly.
- Sending and receiving files. Open files only from people you trust, as you would with any download. You are responsible for the files you send and for having the right to share them. On a mobile connection, large files use a lot of data.
04Privacy
All tests run in your browser. The site has no accounts and no server-side processing of your data.
- Camera images, microphone recordings, sensor readings, coordinates and key presses are not sent anywhere and disappear when you leave the page.
- Files sent with DropBench travel over an encrypted connection straight from the sender’s browser to the receiver’s and are never uploaded to fof.lol. Anyone with the link can download them while the sender’s page is open, unless the sender sets a password.
- A DrawBench board is kept only in the browsers of the people drawing on it. When you share a board, its drawings and the names you choose travel over encrypted connections to everyone who opens the link while the board is hosted; each of them keeps a copy in their browser. Nothing is uploaded to fof.lol.
- A RandomBench giveaway link contains the whole list of participants, so that anyone can repeat the draw; whoever has the link can see that list. Share it only if the participants agreed to be listed, and prefer handles to full names and contact details.
- Results you keep, history, saved places, theme and language are stored only in your browser. You can delete them in each tool or by clearing site data.
- A shared link contains the result itself, encoded in the address after “#”. Anyone who has the link can see that result. WhereBench lets you round the coordinates before sharing. PrivacyBench links never include your IP addresses, provider or city; a check you save to its history keeps them, but only in your browser.
- For offline use, your browser keeps a copy of the site’s own files (pages, scripts, fonts, images) on your device. It contains no personal data.
- Access to the camera, microphone, location, motion sensors and NFC is requested only when you start the relevant test, and is managed by your browser.
- Visit statistics are collected with Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare, Inc.): pages opened, the referring site, country, device and browser type, and page load speed. It sets no cookies and does not follow you across sites or visits. Page addresses are sent without their #… and ?… parts, so test results, shared links, coordinates and saved data never reach it. You can block it with a browser extension.
05Third-party services
Some features contact other services directly from your browser. They receive standard request data such as your IP address and are governed by their own policies.
- SpeedBench: the test traffic goes to Cloudflare (speed.cloudflare.com); your provider, IP address and city come from get.geojs.io (ipwho.is as a fallback); IPv6 is checked with api6.ipify.org.
- WhereBench: map tiles come from OpenStreetMap and satellite imagery from Esri; addresses are looked up with OpenStreetMap Nominatim, which receives the point or text you search for; the approximate location by IP (only when you press that button) comes from get.geojs.io.
- DropBench: to find each other, the two browsers exchange connection details (random IDs and network addresses) through the public PeerJS server (0.peerjs.com); your network address is discovered with Google’s STUN server (stun.l.google.com). When a direct connection is not possible, the encrypted data goes through a PeerJS relay (TURN) server, which cannot read the files.
- DrawBench: only when you share a board or open a link to one, the browsers find each other through the same public PeerJS server (0.peerjs.com) and Google’s STUN server (stun.l.google.com), as in DropBench; the drawings, cursors and names then go straight between the browsers over encrypted connections, through a PeerJS relay (TURN) when a direct path is blocked. Drawing alone sends nothing.
- MeetBench: the network test sends test traffic to Cloudflare (speed.cloudflare.com) and one request to Google’s STUN server (stun.l.google.com) to see whether calls can use UDP. The picture and sound are analysed in the browser and not sent anywhere.
- PrivacyBench: your IP address, provider and approximate location come from get.geojs.io (ipwho.is as a fallback); your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are checked with api.ipify.org and api6.ipify.org; the WebRTC check sends one request to Google’s STUN server (stun.l.google.com). Everything else is read in the browser and not sent anywhere.
- PassBench: passwords are generated and rated in the browser and never sent anywhere. The leak check, which runs only when you press its button, sends the first 5 of the 40 characters of the password’s SHA-1 hash to the Have I Been Pwned service (api.pwnedpasswords.com); it answers with the leaked hashes that start the same way, and the browser compares them itself.
- TimeBench: to measure your clock, up to ten empty requests go to Cloudflare (speed.cloudflare.com), which answers with its time; if it cannot be reached, the fof.lol server is asked for its time instead. The requests contain no data about you. The stopwatch and timer work entirely in the browser.
- Libraries: the QR-code library (SmartBench, DropBench, QRBench, DrawBench), the Leaflet map library (WhereBench), PeerJS (DropBench, DrawBench), the PDF libraries pdf.js and pdf-lib (PDFBench, ScanBench) and the zxcvbn password-strength library (PassBench) are loaded from cdnjs (Cloudflare); the QR scanner jsQR (QRBench, only in browsers without a built-in one) and the Tesseract.js text recognition (ScanBench) come from jsDelivr. Codes, pictures, document photos, recognised text, PDF files, passwords and camera frames are processed in the browser and never sent. Fonts and the text-recognition language files are served by fof.lol itself.
