Biography

Chilies are measured in heat, typists in words per minute. TypeBench measures both at once: the faster you type, the more chilies your result gets. The pepper’s stem is a text cursor, so it is always ready to start.

It tests typing in English and Ukrainian, with common words or with proverbs, pangrams and punctuation, for 15 seconds to 2 minutes, and shows words and characters per minute, accuracy and the keys you miss most. It also measures your reaction time. The results stay in your browser; a challenge link carries only the result, the text settings and the name you chose.

In the comics the chili is the loudest one on the bench: it shouts, waves and leaves a trail of flame behind. For its induction the pepper was drawn a shade lighter, so you can actually see its face, and the shine was moved off its eyes.
